SUPCON SOLAR Delingha 50MW CSP Plant Remains High Efficiency and Stable Operation in Winter

The total power generation of SUPCON SOLAR Delingha 50MW CSP Tower Project was 14.842 GWh in December , with achieving rate of 102.25%.

From 26th of Nov. to 25th of Dec., total DNI 186.13KWh/㎡, the plant practically generated 14.842GWh on the basis of its theoretical designed capacity with 14.515GWh, achieving  102.25%. Totally 13.788GWh was connected to the grid, cumulative generation with 548.4 hours. Among the 30 actual operating days, outputs on 19 days reached 100% capacity.

From Sept. to Dec., the plant has run in good condition and the total power generation was 60.991GWh in the four months, and the average power generation achieving rate was 102.3%.

Monthly Performance of Delingha 50MW CSP Plant

The table above clearly reflects that the monthly power generation of the plant exceeded the designed monthly average (12.167GWh) in winter, which show its advantages in high-latitude regions. 

The northern regions with abundant sunshine resources in China are in high latitudes, and the solar altitude angle is smaller in winter. The heliostat of the tower CSP plant adopts dual-axis tracking system, which can effectively reduce the loss of cosine efficiency caused by the decrease of the sun's altitude angle. While the efficiency of the plant has no much difference in winter and summer, the power generation in winter is often higher than that in summer because of lower rainfall. With the growth of power consumption load, the tower CSP plant can ensure power supply, and supplement the insufficient hydropower output during the dry season in winter.

SUPCON SOLAR Delingha 50MW Molten Salt Tower CSP Plant, one of China's CSP Demonstration projects, is installed with a 7-hour molten salt storage system and designed to generate 146GWh electricity annually. The project is designed and constructed based on Cosin Solar's fully patented technologies, over 95% equipment are domestically sourced.
